It has been really crazy in our household these past couple of weeks. So much to share...
First I would like to start off with my MIL's surgery. Everything went really good. She was operated on Wed, April 7th and came home on the Saturday. She is one stubborn lady, she said she was going home Sat and that she did. But I have to say her first week was really tough. She had told me, she didn't imagine she would have been in so much pain. But it's like I told her, they had taken over 20 samples of all her organs to make sure that the cancer did not spread elsewhere. They did alot of playing around inside, to which I would believe you would get some form of after affects.
The Doctor was shocked when they removed her uterus because there was over 50% cancer. Alot more then what the Doctor had expected. So she has to go for radiation, basically for precautions to having alot more cancer then what the Dr had thought.
Now onto the next set of REALLY GOOD NEWS :) Monday night hubby attended his weekly meeting to the club he is part off. Another man over heard Mike telling a few guys that effective May 1st he no longer had a job and had no clue what he was going to do. The man over heard everything and questioned Mike. We live in a very small town and everyone knows everything within half an hour...LOL. So Mike was surprised when he did not know that the Sears Dealership had been sold. He jumped right up and offered Mike a job right then and there. So come Wed they met and discussed salary and what not. The salary will be a bit more then what he currently was making. Bonus for us but Mike will have a huge responsibility. He will still be a Salesman and Manager of a Home Decor Store. All the owner is asking of Mike is to make sure the workers don't abuse the system or their job, bring the quota of sales up and treat the store as if it was his own.
Mike will be getting his own office and a discount :))) Do you see me smiling for the discount? LOL. I need to repaint some rooms in the house, it's well over due...hint, hint...LOL. So basically his job will consist of ordering stock for the store, working with the employees and customers. SELLING! The most major one of all. He will be selling things such as ceramic tiles, hardwood floors, stain, paints, carpets, wood/pellet/gas stoves/fireplaces. Mike said it will be a challenge but a fun one. I am so happy that he is taking a job that he will like and not one for just because.
But sadly there are no benefits at all! I am talking retirement, health and medical. The retirement part we have been already doing that for years. Remember, I worked at a bank for 15 years, so you pick up some really good habits :) But the benefits part scares me because with me being on Long-Term Disability I am still covered under the bank but what worries me is my most important medication is only covered at 60%. There is NO way at all that we can afford the 40%. I take this med every 6 weeks and it costs almost $6000 every 6 weeks. That means we would have to pay $2400. I mean really, who can afford $2400 every 6 weeks??? I am working with my coordinator at this time to try and work something out. If not, I may be going off it. And you know, I would stop it for awhile but I am scared to death. I have not had a really bad spell for almost two years now and it will be three years that I have been taking this medication in July. When I get a bad spell, I get so crippled that I can't walk, climb stairs, get out of bed, NOTHING! I get migraines and all I want to do is cry. I have seen myself crawling up the stairs on my hands and knees and then coming back down them backwards.
But I guess only time will tell...At least hubby GOT a job with better pay and he is really happy about it. That took about 20 pounds off my shoulders. Things are really starting to looking up so it will work out for my meds also.
On to a better note...the construction guy showed up last Wednesday and installed all the trim and crown molding. Can you hear me singing??? The rooms are already looking better. I am waiting for hubby to dab all the nail holes and seams but I shall not rush him right now. Poor guy has been so busy with the store, finishing off the last of everything before next Saturday and also tonight there was a fund raiser for the club he is part of. I hardly saw him this week because of it all, but that is OK...all is good :) And what was even nicer, when we asked him how much he was charging, he gave a price, a third less then what I had put away. We felt like we were robbing him. He was here the whole entire day but he said no that was it. So we gave him a tip, didn't want him to think we were taking advantage of him. He is a brother to hubby's best friend.
I realized I forgot to take pictures of Tabitha's room. So I will share that in another post :)
Here is Abby's room and like I said, the dabbing and painting still needs to be done. I find the trim doesn't stand out that much right now, but wait for it to be painted and the decorations put back, you'll see it better.
I then, have been doing some tweaking in my bedroom and am really pleased with how it's looking :)
Here's a close up of my redware plates that I ordered awhile back. I love this display but had to make sure to put it somewheres that the kids and hubby would not connect into...LOL. I don't know who is worst...hehe.
I always appreciate ALL of you stopping by and leaving a message. It always means the world to me. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Oh your little Daisy is just too precious. I remember when we got our first toy poodle. He too was so tiny that a cat collar wouldn't fit. I ADORE your bathroom
I'm so happy to hear your MIL is doing better and I pray for a complete recovery with radiation and whatever else she has for the cure.
YOU ALL HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH THIS PAST YEAR...I PRAY FOR ALL OF YOU.
CONGRATULATIONS on Mike getting a job...God works his magic in many ways when we least expect it...never give up hope and always have Faith.
And...as far as your furniture not being Prim or Colonial...I think what I saw in the pictures is wonderful...and it can be made to look how you want it to with accessories and little touches here and there....not to fear! It works.
Hugs, Karen
