Whatcha Working on Wednesday

How is Everyone doing on this wonderful sunny Wednesday?
The weather here is beautiful and they are calling for wonderful weather for the next few days...YEAH! I love Summer, time to enjoy my deck :)

We have been quite busy here this past week.
Starting off by celebrating our Great-Grandfather's 105th Birthday. Imagine that...105???
He still lives in his own home with family bringing him his meals each day. His memory on the most part is still quite good. He remembers my husband's name BUT he always thinks that I have two boys. Well at least he has the number right :) And might I say, he looks pretty darn good for his age.
And then my Tabitha was performing in a very well known and popular musical 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Sadly I don't have any pics because no video and photo cameras were allowed. But someone snapped a backstage pic that I can share with ya...
This was a awesome show! I really enjoyed it! The entire crew worked very hard to put this show together. Tabitha spent two months of every Sunday and Monday at practice and then the last week, they practice every evening till very late. When Sunday night arrived after the last show, Tabitha hit the hay and fell asleep within seconds. She was burnt out!!! They performed three shows over the weekend, one Saturday evening and two on Sunday. All I can say is WOW!!!

Here is another pic of Tab with her Dad before she was leaving for the last show Sunday evening. This will be one of the first times you will see her with make-up and one of the last, well until her next musical which will be at the end of the month. She looks good with make-up BUT I am so happy that doesn't wear it. Makes them look to old...
Speaking of Tabitha, she sure has made her mommy and daddy very proud parents :) With all of the practices that she had going on for the show, also she had a dance competition the weekend before in another town. Her team came in second place :) And all of the other activities that she is part of, she is finishing this school year with a BANG! She had a Math test last week and pulled of a 98%. She then had a really hard Science test which she finished with a 100%. And since she attends a French School, they have a English class which is not taught the same as a child who attends English Schools. But for their final grade they had to do a presentation on what they want to be when they are older. Tabitha's dream is to be a Dentist, this has been a dream of hers for three years now but this year she is really taking it serious. So they had to do a write up on what they would say, dress the part and make business cards. Well she once again walked away with another 100%. This is the reason I am saying that she is finishing the school year with a BANG! With everything that she is part of, a very busy schedule she still was able to excel in school. Way to go TAB!

This coming Monday, we are invited to a special event for the kids at her school that have been nominated for a Award. It's called 'Prix-Thomas'...we have no idea what she was nominated for. So keep your fingers crossed for her. We are quite excited to attend, I guess it's a beautiful evening that all the Teachers work very hard on. So come Monday, we will know if she is a winner of something :)

Anyways enough bragging...LOL...can you tell I am a proud MOM??? You know your doing something right when your child excels in everything and knows her P's and Q's.

So back to what we have been doing...we finally got the deck all set up and ready to enjoy for the Summer. Mind you keep in mind I still need to add some plants. But here is what it's looking like...
We need to have this privacy wall up because if not, we would not be able to sit here. When it's really hot and sunny, the deck reads between 50 and 60...now that's HOT!

This is a cabinet that hubby and father in-law built a couple years back. Hubby finally got the shingles on it and stained. It houses all of hubby's barbecue stuff. And soon we will be putting a TV in it so we can sit outside and watch some TV if we wish. You can see the gameboard that I received in my last swap gift :) Perfect for Summer...
My chandelier for our sitting area...I forgot to turn it on...OOOPPPSSS :)
To make our Gazebo water proof, my Aunt was the one who gave us this idea...we put up clear shower curtains on this side of the Gazebo so it wouldn't block light into the kitchen but yet keeps the sofa dry. What a great idea...thanks Aunt Mim!
It's not very primitive, but I tried adding some touches to make it feel that way. We just love our sitting area!

Here you will find the table and Mike's Green Eggs. He will be building a special table to house his eggs. It probably won't get done this year, so more of a project for next.
You can see in the corner a plant...those are our cherry tomatoes and peppers. We don't have a garden and I don't have intentions because each year we have a really big problem with ear wigs. They invade the gardens and eat all the leaves...YUCK! So we just keep a small planter that is lifted up a bit, this way here they don't bother the plants.

We also have been working in the gardens, I got this one done! And it's looking good but after all the wind from yesterday, it broke some of my plants :( I will be adding some annuals either this week or next.
I'll give you a better tour and closer pics in another post...flowers is what makes a home from the outside. Well...at least this is what I think :))))

And now onto the last of what I WILL be working on...
Heidi Demerchant-Holmes who I met on Facebook under the name of Ewnique Olde Crow doesn't live very far from me. I asked her to build me a few things, her and her husband work really good :) I am soooo excited to get started...

This is a box that will cover our I-Pod dock...
...and this is a cover for my Kitchen-Aid mixer...
...then I had her build me a Pipe Box, pattern that Char from The Pickled Pepper Patch posted awhile back. Do I ever love it! Can't wait to get this one done so I can display my clay pipes and braided tobacco that I purchased from The Farmhouse Primitives awhile back.
I requested to have my items not painted because I want to use the colors that I have here at home. So as you can see, I have some work cut out for me. But that is OK because I am super excited to get started :)

Lastly I had her build me this lathe tool carrier and this how I displayed it...
Of course, Allie had to sneak in the picture. She was trying to figure out what I was doing...LOL. If you look closely in one of the pics above, you will see the tool carrier under one of my end tables. I love the look of it and how it turned out.

Once I have everything painted and displayed, hopefully by next week, I will be sure to post you some pics :)

So my friends as you can see, we have been quite busy here in our Homestead :) Things will start winding down with the girls getting out for Summer vacation next week. They are looking forward to their break and to be honest, so am I.

So until next time my friends...have yourself a great day :)

What a GREAT outdoor living space! Our good friends have done similiar - had a permanent awning built off their patio, and then worked at creating an outside living area, complete with small tv - it is the best of both worlds. I <3 your outdoor chandelier, and the height that you have, and the bbq cabinet is the best! Enjoy your summer with family and doggy, and congrats to your daughter as well :)

Everything looks great Sandy!! I keep struggling with a gazebo versus my grapevine-covered pergola in my backyard.. I don't want the messy grapes but I like the natural cover but it's not waterproof and that's what I want. Still thinking of my options!

105th birthday?! Wow! Really?! He looks great! That is so awesome Sandy!

Tab sure is a pretty girl, I'm sure she did a wonderful job in that show! Yes, much to be proud of mom!

Your gazebo and deck area look wonderfully inviting! I think you have just enough prim in there. I can see where it would be kinda hard to decorate. As long as it's comfortable then that's all that matters.

I can't wait to see your hand mades by Heidi painted up. What great ideas for hiding!

Enjoy your summer vacation! I am home with my kids for the summer too. It's so nice to be able to do that.
