I know the kids were disappointed but they had already missed school Friday due to the weather being -40 and if they miss to much more they have to make it up.
Today I will explain how I do my "12 Day's of Valentine's" since I know alot of you are awaiting :) I know I have said this in previous posts but my Family enjoy this so much! Each day last year they could not wait and see what I had planned for the next day.
I posted a picture of my day-to-day calendar of what we did last year. This year I am going to change some things around and change a couple of things. Just click on the picture to see a closer look of what each day consist of.
On day 2, everyone needed to tell someone how much they love them. On this day in everyone's lunch, I wrote a special love note to each of them. Telling them how much I love them and how important they are in my life. They were very surprised to find these notes. You know, DH still has his. He showed it to me the other day. How touching :)))))
On day 3, it was Family movie night. The girls got to choose what movie they wanted to watch. We all got into our PJ's, dug out our blankets and pillows and curled up on the couch as one big happy family. We ate popcorn and drank pop in which the girls loved alot! Pop is a treat in our house so for them on a school night it sure was a BIG treat.
On day 4, it was chocolate fondue...YUMMY! I had a large selection of fruits and since Tabitha wont each fruits, she had graham crackers. Abby really thought this was neat and fun. She was so funny because she can't pronounce fondue, she would call it a fandue.
On day 5, it was Hugs-n-Kisses all day long. All day you had to give hugs and kisses to each other. Just to let each other know how important and how much we love each other. Again when everyone got home, at each place setting at the table I had one large HUGS chocolate and some small KISSES chocolates. I thought it was so appropriate for the day.
On day 6, I had a little something...a gift for each person. This was just something small that I had collected from the Dollarstore.
On day 7, it was a "Girl's Night". Hubby went away for the night with the men so us girls once again got into our PJ's and curled up in my King Size Bed to watch a girls movie. The girls also slept with me for the night. Again that is a big treat just because I don't want them to think they can get into the habit.
On day 8, it was treat day...lunch at McDonalds since daddy was still away and only coming home late at night. The girls love eating and playing there so we went out for a girls lunch.
On day 9, it was called "SURPRISE DAY" but to be honest with you...I can not remember what we did...LOL
On day 10, it was Family night supper by candle light. The girls loved this because we were eating at candle light...romantic :)
On day 11, it was Family Game night. We had lots of fun just playing games that we all could play.
On day 12, you guessed it...Valentines. I had a flower for each person along with a card and small gift. Everyone was so happy and surprised!!! Including hubby...
Along with doing my day-to-day calendar, I had coupons and little gifts from the Dollarstore that they would receive. The coupons consisted of...feeding the dog for a week, tonight you do the dishes, no fighting with your siblings, you choose which game you want to play, choose your favorite desert and so on...
They had the option of a little gift or coupon except for the day when I gave them a gift, they only got the gift and no coupon.
We enjoyed it so much and it caused alot of people to talk just because it was different and everyone enjoyed themselves.
When Day 1 begins, I will be posting about it on my blog so everyone can see what each day will be like for us. It would be so fun to see others like you give this a try. I bet it would be a hit with you and your family to :) If someone out there does give it a try, it would be so fun for you to post about it.
If anyone has any questions on how to do this or for any other reason, just ask I will let you all know.
Have a wonderful evening... :)
Sandy

I hope your wintertime temps and snow give way to some relief soon! We've had all kinds of crazy weather and snow here too...
Take care, my friend...
What a great idea! We've always had the same dinner for Valentine's day, peach and strawberry waffles... maybe this year I should do the whole month leading up to it too with little special somethings!
