~ Whatcha Working On Wednesday ~

Oh WOW...where have the days gone???

They have just flown by...We have been so busy from running around with Tabitha's Choir practices, Private singing lessons, Adagio Choir (all preparing for Christmas shows), Doctor Appointments and the list goes on that I have lost tract of time. Sorry that I am posting so late...the only time I could finally post something.

I have started preparing for my Christmas gifts and have one homemade gift almost all prepared. Now all I have to do is decorate the jars and add the instructions. It is homemade hot chocolate and boy does it smell just like it :) I found the recipe online...over at the Primitive Times Magazine (an older issue). But just in case to the ones who don't want to look it here it is;

3/4 cup baking cocoa
2 cups powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup sugar
2 cups powdered sugar
6 cups powdered milk

Mix together all ingredients. Divide equally into jars. You may want to top the last inch or so of the jars with mini-marshmallows. Attach tags with instructions onto each jar. Makes 6 pints.

Instructions: Combine 1/4 cup mix with one cup of hot water. Makes one serving.

I will add a jar of hot chocolate mix in a basket with mugs , a couple baggies of mini-marshmallows - I did not add the marshmallows in the jars because I want them in baggies and I will attach a saying about the marshmallows. I just can't find that paper at the moment with what the saying will be :) I will also make my own chocolate covered spoons to stir the hot chocolate with. Then I will wrap the spoons in cellophane and tied off with some jute. And last but not least a little candle. What a cute little basket of goodies to share with the family or friends.

My recipe filled 2 of the large jars and 2 pint sizes.
Next I made up my grubby candles and quite a batch at that!
This coming weekend will be another Christmas Craft Show for us fellow residents. One lady who will be there selling her products offered to sell my grubby candles if I had any ready. So as you can see today I worked my butt off to make 20 candles in cinnamon and ground cloves scent. All that is left to do is add some coffee died cheesecloth and some homespun material. They will then be ready to sell :)
Also to my surprise, I have many ladies signed up for my giveaway. I was not expecting such a great deal of comments. So if you have not signed up yet on such a great giveaway...it's time to sign up for the drawing will be held on Nov 16.

The last couple of days have snowed a bit. So the girls went out for the first time yesterday to build their first snowman and slide down out large hill. They had a blast! So with snow on the ground and cold enough weather to wear a winter jacket...it's starting to feel alot like Christmas!!! I have slowly started taking out some of my Christmas decorations. I will soon be posting some pictures. So I hope where ever you live, it's starting to feel like Christmas for you.

Until next time...

Sandy

Love the homemade gift jars! I made some last year and filled them with "Moccachino Mix" ~ hot chocolate with a little coffee mix. Yummy! And so fun to give.
You are going to make some friends very happy with the gift packages.

Your candles are lovely!

My step mom's mom gave us a jar of hot chocolate mix a few years ago! She put it in an old canning jar and I was just as excited about the jar as the hot chocolate mix! LOL I still have that jar :)

Your candles look great! I know you have been busy with all the crafting and running. It's that time of the year....

Have a great day!

Sandy, love your gift jars! On my melting snowmans I used a material i found at hobby lobby. its by the batting. It is a soft soft wolly fiber, simular to felt. i stuffed his head with batting and sewed underneath after i sewed the two sides together, Ive never tried a tutorial maybe I will! It was so easy. drew up a pattern and it made up quickly! dawn

Gotta love handmade gifts. Especially food. :) Your grubby candles look FAB!

I've been meaning to ask you about your patio door curtains. Did you make them or buy them? I am looking for some for mine. We need a little more privacy. Plus did you make the shelf that goes above the doors. That is so cute!

Goodness you are soooo busy...sounds like a duplicate of me!
Love the hot chocolate recipe - thanks for posting it and is it actually that white???? I am thinking the cocoa doesn't show up dark with all the light powders/sugar in there, correct.

I also love your candles! good luck on the sale.

Homemade hot chocolate is soooo much better than the store bought kind.

I really do like the candles - ancd cinnamon clove is wonderful at this time of year. I just bought some cinnamon spice potpourri and sprinkled it on the fireplace mantel - it makes the house smell so warm.

Have a great day and don't forget to slow down! (easier said than done)

Oh, Sandy, I forgot all about the recipe I had somwhere for homemade hot chocolate. It seems like it made a huge amount and that was a reason that I didn't do it that often...it was quite expensive. I will have to compare it with yours because I loved it! Thanks for reminding me! That will make great gifts!

Your candles are great and I bet they smell yummy!

We don't have snow, but it has been overcast and it has the feel of Christmas. I like days like this when I can stay indoors! :)

Have a great day! I hope you sell lots of candles!

That hot chocoalte mix was always a hit when I use it for gifts. I put it in cone shaped disposable decorating bags with mini marshmallows at the top twist shut and tie with some homespun.Attach instructions.Great teacher gift!! Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to get the supplies again.

I do jar soup mixes for my parents and my DH's dad for christmas. They have everything so this works great for them. They both seem to enjoy them. They give me the empty jar back to refill every year.

The candles look spectacular. Ever thought of a tutorial. I would love to try some.
