~ Whatcha Working On Wednesday ~

Another Wednesday is upon us and the last one for the month of October.
Where did the month go? It seems like we just begun...
Is everyone ready for a "Happy Halloween?"
Abigayle is so excited...knowing that she has two do-do's to go and she gets to go Trick or Treating. I will definitely post pictures with her all dressed up. She wants to be a clown, a custome that her Memere (Grandmother in French) made a couple years back for Tabitha. We are all set for the day to come...

I have been very busy stitching. I think I am addicted...hehe.
I said when I was done my valance for the dining room I was going to start my next stitchery. Well that I did! I decided that my next two would be pillows for Christmas/Winter. But I never made pillows before...you see I am not a very good sewer. Mostly self taught and a couple quick courses here and there. So I went over to my MIL's last night for a couple of hours for her to show me some tricks. She is the expert for when it comes to sewing. This lady makes everything and does everything. She only owns about 6 sewing machines...she's addicted and wants to purchase another...LOL. Well am I ever happy that I did go to see her because she did teach me some things that I never knew. So it was a good thing that I went because I think I would of ended up disappointed. By the time I left last night this is what I completed...
The material in the background will be the backing of the pillows. I might add that I completed each stitchery in an evening each. A couple of days before yesterday and since I had these ones completed...of course I had to start another...LOL.

So today after carefully looking everything over and remembering what my MIL told me, I got busy and completed my two pillows. I am very pleased with how they turned out. My MIL gave me the idea to make the backing open so I can make other ones and interchange them for the seasons. I loved the idea so much that is what I did. Now I warn you that my pillows are a tad to small for the covers...I will go shopping tomorrow for bigger pillows.

I also wanted to say that I found these two patterns for free on the internet over at Twigs&Sprigs, she has so MANY to choose from!!! The next pattern that I will show you also came from her site. I just love her patterns...they have that nice prim look to them.
I also completed my hand towel that I showed a couple posts back. I made the towel awhile back but felt it needed something else. I then found this pattern in which I can not remember where but thought how nice it would be for the towel. So last night, I finally finished it and again am pleased with how it turned out. The towel now looks complete...
This is my new stitchery that I am now working on. Knowing me by the time I go to bed tonight it will completed...hehe. I then want to work on some snowmen patterns that I found and also in the latest issue of Create&Decorate there are a few patterns that I love and would really like to make. This stitchery I will frame once completed.
Tabitha also wanted me to show you her first stitchery completed. And she is considering making this one into a pillow for her best friend for Christmas. Isn't it cute??? After she had it completed I saw Colleen from ...and baby makes five had also completed the same stitchery. I know her friend will love it :)
I now have her so addicted that she started another one. This one she will frame and give it to her Memere for Christmas. My MIL LOVES flowers and hand made things but most importantly she will love this gift more because it was hand made by her granddaughter.
When she has it completed, I will make sure to post it. Tabitha is very much crafty like her mother...makes me wonder if Abby will also be like us???

So here I am now at my 95th post...fast approaching my 100th. Stayed tuned as I approach it because I have a surprise.

I must run for now and read a bedtime story to my little one. So have a great evening and we will see you again soon...

Sandy

I forgot all about Twigs n Sprigs. She has a TON of really neat free stuff. I dont' do much stitchery, but I picked out a few patterns for some pillows.

I have always been crafty since I was little. My daughter doesn't have a crafty bone in her bod. I tell her, "Honey...not everyone can be crafty, at least you're pretty."

The only thing I can say is "WOW" I can't believe you completed two in two evenings:)

It is so nice that your daughter is taking after her mom:) Michele used to do cross stitching with me in the 90's now she has the two little ones and works so never has time:0

Have a great evening, Oh, your pillows are so neat and prim!

I also made one stuff Christmas ornament thats a star. I have trouble closing that final seam after stuffing. Any tips on how to make it easier?

Oh, Sandy, I sure wish you could do a fast tutorial on those darling pillows. Im not that great of a sewer also. It looks like you sew your sampler and then you add the homespun around it? Help, Dawn

Hi Sandy,
I love how your pillows turned out. I love Twigs n Sprigs website. I have used some of her free patterns and made stitcheries or painted them on thrift shop finds.
It's wonderful that your daughter is now stitching also. My girl's don't like to craft, stitch or sew, but my granddaughter sure does.

I think many of us are addicted to stitching lately. It's definitely going around the web! LOL I love stitching, too. Painting was always my favorite but stitching is really taking over. You can just do so many things if you can stitch!

Love your pillows and all of your other stitchings. My DD wants to learn to do it, too but she's 5 and I don't know yet....lol

Have a great day!

Sandy,

All your stitcheries look wonderful! I do love the look of the Twigs patterns! The last one you're working on...I looked at the other day and saved! Do you just use the colors you want on them?

And tell Tabitha that she did a great job on her stitchery! I love it! It is addicting! I am working on my 2nd one but it's going slower as it's more detailed than my first and it seems like I only get 10 or 15 minutes here and there!

I would like to try a pillow, but I don't have a sewing machine...could it be done without?
